A different kind of driving
A reader has kindly sent me some pages from This Game of Golf by the famous player Henry Cotton. It has a chapter on motoring in which he describes his 1929 36/220 Mercedes-Benz two-seater coupe, which had a special carrier for the luggage (and clubs?) Cotton carried on long journeys, including those across Europe.
He had bought the red Mercedes-Benz after it had done only 3000 miles and he kept it proudly for 13 years, clocking up more than 100,000 miles in it before selling it, still in very good order, for a small sum.
