Halton Tojeiro
Sir,
I read with interest, in the July edition of Motor Sport, the letter from Mr Derek Barratt on the Halton Tojeiro as I am now the present owner, purchasing the car five years ago from Mr Jeremy Broad.
All of Mr Barratt’s information was correct, the “Toj” being built during 1955-56, at RAF Halton, the car originally registered on May 1st 1956, number YK X 2 and chassis number 385056.
According to my history the “Toj” had three places in the 1957/58 season and many second and third positions. The can was then sold in 1961 and believed to have been campaigned by Dick Protheroe with an XK (C engine), but this is unconfirmed.
At the present moment the Tojeiro is having new period aluminium bodywork, and should be seen on the circuits in 1986/7 season.
The other Tojeiro mentioned with bodywork from the Lagonda V12 is also in the Birmingham area, and has been for approximately 13 years.
