Sir Williams Lyons Award

We are frequently asked how one becomes a motoring journalist. There are, of course, as many different ways as there are journalists but one of the surest is to win the Sir William Lyons Award, organised annually by the Guild of Motoring Writers. The competition is open to candidates aged between 17 and 23 and the prize is £500, a trophy, two years probationary membership of the Guild and, if it can be arranged, work experience on the publication of the winner’s choice.
