GP drivers at Shelsley
Sir,
Mr. Duffield’s letter and the excellent Shelsley article in last months Motor Sport set me to ponder just how quickly some of todays top GP drivers would be, given competitive cars, at Shelsley.
Imagine how much interest would be generated if for example Jones, Villeneuve, and Pironi could be persuaded to spend a weekend at Shelsley in order to “have a go” at the record.
They would obviously require a few runs to learn the hill but I wonder how long the record would last once they really started to try. Perhaps a GP versus Hillchmb drivers competition could be arranged for a weekend when the FOCA & FISA are having one of their petty squabbles.
