Firstly, I should like to thank you for your road test report on the Combi Coupe in the June issue. It was a very fair appraisal and I was so pleased to see that it made amends for your previous disappointment.

There is one point I feel I should stress and that is that the 2-litre engine is very much Saab’s development now and it is manufactured at our Plant in Sodertalje, which you may recall was the first factory to employ group assembly techniques. Saab took the development on from the 1.95-litre stage and the Swedish 2-litre-engined models

first arrival in the UK alongside the 1.85 unit in 1972.
