Rising Admission Charges

Sir,

All good things come to an end. Now those wonderfully cheap race meetings held by the V.S.C.C. are just another nostalgic memory.

After many years of support, I find it hard to see my enthusiasm described as “hoping to see an accident for five bob.” The only meeting I didn’t enjoy was when I did see one.

Doubling the car-park charge, ostensibly to discourage the morbid crowd had the opposite effect and resulted in a record attendance. How then can they justify the 5s. admission to the paddock as a means of relieving congestion ?
