Our verdict on every circuit on the 2024 F1 race calendar

Well, it’s going to be a long one – 24 races this season, which is two more than 2023. Here’s our verdict on the venues

1.-Bahrain

Bahrain

1 Bahrain
Sakhir / February 29-March 2
Twentieth anniversary of its first GP. Yes, really. Much better now it’s a night race.

2.-Saudi

Saudi Arabia

2 Saudi Arabia
Jeddah Corniche / March 7-9
Fast, ferocious. Permanent street circuits? So in vogue. Races usually not dull.

3.-Australia

Australia

3 Australia
Albert Park, Melbourne / March 22-24
First 2024 race in daylight. Hurrah! Popular venue, but race can be forgettable.

Japan

Japan

4 Japan
Suzuka / April 5-7
Big move from autumn to spring. Logistically sensible. Hopefully better weather.

China

China

5 China
Shanghai / April 19-21
Back for the first time since 2019. We think. Like Bahrain, marks its 20th anniversary.

Miami

Miami

6 Miami
Miami, US / May 3-5
Celebrities. Fake harbour. Largely uninspiring track layout. What’s not to dislike?

Emilia-Romagna

Emilia-Romagna

7 Emilia-Romagna
Imola, Italy / May 17-19
Now you’re talking. Proof that modern Formula 1 hasn’t lost (all) its soul.

Monaco

Monaco

8 Monaco
Circuit de Monaco / May 24-26
Cue riding one of those fast, silent, heavy hybrid bikes around one’s pokey living room…

Canada

Canada

9 Canada
Montreal / June 7-9
Pre-dated permanent street circuit hybrids by four decades. Still better than most.

Spain

Spain

10 Spain
Barcelona-Catalunya / June 21-23
Madrid rivalry looms. Underappreciated? Probably. On borrowed time? Hope not.

Austria

Austria

11 Austria
Spielberg / June 28-30
The ‘other’ Dutch race. Stunning setting, short lap. But wot no Bosch Kurve?

Great Britain

Great Britain

12 Great Britain
Silverstone / July 5-7
One of the best races. Now given the credit it’s due with freshly-minted 10-year contract. Too right!

Hungary

Hungary

13 Hungary
Hungaroring / July 19-21
‘Mickey Mouse’ in 1986. Most love it now. Great city just down the road, which helps.

Belgium

Belgium

14 Belgium
Spa-Francorchamps / July 26-28
Better weather now earlier in the summer? Don’t be daft. Still a heartland for F1.

Netherlands

Netherlands

15 Netherlands
Zandvoort / August 23-25
Perfect venue to get back in the swing after summer break. Max’s backyard.

Monza

Monza

16 Italy
Monza / August 30-September 1
Even older than us. If you haven’t been… This year. All the clichés are true.

Baku

Baku

17 Azerbaijan
Baku / September 13-15
Switches from the spring. Best (true) F1 street circuit for racing? We’d say so.

Singapore

Singapore

18 Singapore
Marina Bay / September 20-22
Out-bedazzled by newer entries. Only race to catch out Red Bull last term.

United States

United States

19 United States
COTA, Austin, Texas / October 18-20
The true successor to Watkins Glen. Almost a full month after Singapore!

Mexico

Mexico

20 Mexico City
Hermanos Rodriguez / October 25-27
Can Sergio Pérez get past Turn 1 this time? High-altitude high-jinks, but not a great track.

Interlagos

Interlagos

21 São Paulo
Interlagos / November 1-3
Now you’re talking (again). Should still host the season finale. Those days are gone.

Las Vegas

Las Vegas

22 Las Vegas
Nevada, US / November 21-23
Will the sequel match the original? Let’s hope for Terminator 2 rather than Die Hard 2.

Qatar

Qatar

23 Qatar
Lusail / November 29-December 1
And on we go. Will this season never end? Later date this time to take it off the boil.

Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi

24 Abu Dhabi
Yas Marina / December 6-8
Rubbish place to end the season. December title climax? Don’t hold your breath.
