One of the earliest E-types to roll out of the Browns Lane factory, this Series 1 is one of only 150 right-hand drive ‘flat-floor’ cars. And it’s more or less indistinguishable from the Jaguar it was when it rolled off the production line as the 80th car built, in December 1961.

The car, offered by E-type UK in Kent, was restored back to its original glory by two well-known members of the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club in 1994, having undergone a first major rebuild — including new paintwork — a dozen or so years before. The husband and wife team, who undertook much of the work themselves, finished the car in ‘opalescent silver grey’ with a factory red interior, a colour combination which dramatically sets off the curvaceous lines of Malcolm Sayer’s timeless masterpiece.

The rebuild included a bare-metal respray and new inner sills, boot floor and door skins, while the weighty bonnet was re-fitted to ensure perfect opening and closing. The normal sympathetic upgrades, such as more powerful front brakes and electric cooling fan, were incorporated into the restoration and the car now has an aluminium radiator and header tank for reduced weight and better cooling.

This E-type comes with a huge history file including details of many events and rallies the car has attended plus every MOT certificate dating back to 1970. The car has just 67,000 miles on the clock and the price is by application.
