In brief, April 2010

* Red Bull Racing has confirmed that Aussie Daniel Ricciardo and Kiwi Brendon Hartley will share the reserve driver roles for RBR and Toro Rosso this season. British F3 champ Ricciardo impressed when he tested for Red Bull at Jerez at the end of last year.

* Despite outscoring BMW Sauber team-mate Robert Kubica last season, Nick Heidfeld (left) has found himself without a race seat after 10 years at the top level of the sport. The German has accepted the third driver role at Mercedes GP, but is likely to be high on the list should any top team need a replacement.

* DTM star Paul di Resta has been confirmed as Force India’s third driver for 2010. But unlike some of his colleagues at rival teams the Scot will get some high-profile mileage, since Force India will use him in place of one of its regular drivers in Friday morning practice at selected races.

* Kimi Räikkönen may be out of F1, but there’s another Flying Finn on the horizon in the shape of Valtteri Bottas, who has been signed up as third driver by Williams. Bottas (left), who is managed by Mika Häkkinen, is heading into his second season with the ART F3 Euroseries team.

* Ross Brawn received the Sir Malcolm Campbell Memorial Trophy for his achievements with Brawn GP in 2009 at the MSA awards ceremony at the RAC in London. The trophy is awarded annually to a group or individual who have excelled in the world of motor sport.

* Andy Soucek has secured the reserve driver role at Virgin Racing. The reigning Formula 2 champion was due to attend pre-season Barcelona testing in case either Timo Glock or Lucas di Grassi were unable to drive.

* An hour-long programme on the Motor Sport Hall of Fame will be shown on April 4 on Sky Sports 3 at 3pm, Sky Sports 2 at 6.30pm and Sky Sports 4 at 9pm. It will also be aired on April 5 on SS4 at noon, 3pm and 7pm.
