The Porsche book
The Complete History of Types and Models
Jurgen Barth & Gustav Busing
Fearsomely detailed file of everything the firm has produced so far, updated to 2009. And Barth is not only an in-house expert but won Le Mans in a Porsche. Every model from 1948 is here, with all variants, specs and chassis number ranges, plus a list of all Porsche’s diverse projects. The sheer completeness makes it simple to disentangle confusion: I’ll now remember the 907 came after the 910. Three volumes divide as rear engines, middle and front engines, and racing (although racing versions appear in all), but putting the complete contents in all the books is a thoughtful touch. Copious photos, many rare, complement a top-quality reference. GC
