Lagonda win to be celbrated
The 75th anniversary of Lagonda’s greatest moment in racing will be celebrated at Oulton Park in August, when the ‘Great Lagonda Race’ will be held to commemorate 75 years since the marque won the Le Mans 24 Hours.
The celebration race, run within an Aston Martin Owners’ Club meeting, will be open to pre-war Lagondas and Invictas, and organisers are hoping to attract a full field. Other cars will take part in a lunchtime parade.
In 1935, John Hindmarsh and Luis Fontes (above) took their Rapide to victory over the Alfa Romeos and Bugattis in awful weather conditions. However, Lagonda was already in financial trouble and the company was sold soon after.
