Pomeroy Trophy
Modern pretenders were soundly spanked in February’s Pomeroy Trophy at Silverstone, where seven of the top ten were Frazer Nashes. Father and son Dick and Andrew Smith scooped the Pomeroy and Densham Trophies respectively, ahead of Ron Gammons’ MGB. Barratt’s 1911 Knox was best pre-Great War machine, the VSCC’s arcane formula of varied tests declaring it a better tourer than the Porsches and Ferrairis Novelties included Deffee’s Rover 1100 and Moore’s Brough Superiors, while Atkins’ AC Cobra was a welcome return.
