Safari draw — surprise for Mouton

As this Issue of Motor Sport is published the Marlboro Safari Rally will be one day into its five-day span. The draw for start numbers took place during the time of the Portuguese Rally and the competitor in Portugal to get the biggest surprise was Michèle Mouton who drew number one for her first crack at the Kenyan event.

In addition, Collinge and Yvonne Mehta will drive a Range Rover, Munari and Street an Alfa Romeo, and Elford and Gates a Subaru 4-w-d saloon. There were 82 entries at the time of the draw. — G.P.
