Lionel Vincent Thomas Special—LVT 1
I wonder if you or any of your staff or readers can help me trace the history of a rather interesting Welsh-made motor car ? It is registered as an LV Thomas Special and was made in 1947 by a Mr. Lionel Vincent Thomas. The registration number is LVT 1.
In appearance the car is very similar to the Healey Westland pictured in “Healeys and Austin Healeys” by L. Needham and P. Browning (on page 25). The bodywork is aluminium and suspension is Lancia Lambda at the front with Riley rear axle. Present power unit is XKI20 Jaguar but this is believed not to be original.
I intend to restore the car to its original condition and hopefully, if it is eligible,, enter it for some VSCC events. I do hope someone can remember something about this fascinating vehicle, particularly since BBC Wales are interested in its origins and wish to include a feature on the car in a local programme.
Many thanks for your excellent magazine.
