The Birkins

Sir,

I was interested, as one of the participants, to see the photograph of Cambridge riders on page 136 of your February issue, but, knowing your reputation for accuracy. I feel that I should point out several errors in the caption.

The rider on the right is not Tim Birkin, but his younger brother Archie, Temple’s nickname was FLOP, not Flap (I have never known a more unflappable man . My initials, for what it is worth, are A.R. not P.R.; and finally the date was 1925, not 1922.
