Tasman Races

Once again the “down-under” winter series of races was run to International Formula 5000 rules, with a predominant New Zealand and Australian entry, mostly Lola mounted and Chevrolet-powered. The eight races were sponsored by the Peter Stuyvesant cigarette company, four being run in New Zealand and four in Australia, and a pleasant surprise was the win by Chris Amon in the last of the New Zealand races. While entries were not large for the races the competition was close and the racing was very competitive.
