Ideal pairs XI
Sir,
My wife and I were delighted to see that you included in your own choice of “ideal Pair” the elegant 30/98, but were saddened by the modernity of your colleagues’ choices. Now what if you could combine the pleasures of owning a vintage car with those of using regularly a PVT car? We are provoked into offering you our humble choice:
(a) For the sheer pleasure of owning and restoring a vintage car of character and beautiful engineering we offer the 2-litre Lagonda (L chassis) combined with our everyday car.
(b) The Aston Martin DB 2/4 Mk. I, a thoroughbred by anyone’s reckoning, and possessing both dignity and a sparkling performance.
For two of us the latter is fine, though with a third member on the way, life may become a little difficult later. What we are really looking forward to is a touring holiday in the old style in our Lag.
Needless to say the Lagonda/Aston Martin stable need no introduction to one another.
As a final cry, please keep up your efforts to help us enjoy our vintage style driving—we already appreciate what you are doing to counter legislation, but the anti-pollution laws would just about finish off the 2-litre.
Grantham.
