Bristol Fighter open day
April 7th is the 50th anniversary of the first operational flight of the Bristol Fighter which took place on April 7th, 1917, and Sunday, April 1st, is the 49th anniversary of the formation of the R.A.F. To commemorate these dates the Shuttleworth Collection will hold an open day on April 1st at which, weather and mechanicals permitting, the sole remaining airworthy Bristol Fighter (powered by the oldest Rolls-Royce aero engine in existence), which belongs to the Collection, will be flown. A Crossley, staff-car and a Hucks-Starter will be on display and, if conditions permit, other early aeroplanes may be flown. Gates open 11 a.m., admission costs 5s. per adult, 2s. 6d. per child (genuine ex-R.F.C. personnel admitted free). The venue is Old Warden Aerodrome, Biggleswade, Beds.-W. B.
